Uncommon in Britain and Ireland.

Summary: found mainly on branches of deciduous and coniferous/evergreen trees/bushes.

Associations:

  • Deciduous branches: apple, alder, ash, birch, blackthorn, bramble, elder, elm, hawthorn, hazel, maple, oak, pear, plum, snowberry, sycamore and sea buckthorn.
  • Deciduous trunks: beech and sycamore.
  • Conifer/evergreen branches: cedar, gorse, juniper, larch, pine and yew.
  • Other microhabitats: heather, marram grass, palings, pigeon’s nest, swept grassland and walls.

Sampling techniques: beating branches, brushing tree trunks, hand searching and sweep netting.
