A few adults have been found to overwinter on or under bark. It is likely that further recording will show that the species also overwinters in the south.
Summary: has most frequently been found on mature tree trunks and conifer branches.
Associations:
- Deciduous branches: oak.
- Tree trunks: ash, beech, elm, conifer, horse chestnut and oak.
- Conifer/evergreen branches: gorse, pine, sitka spruce and yew.
- Other microhabitats: humid heath, log pile, pine needle litter and under Acer bark.
Sampling techniques: beating branches, brushing tree trunks, hand searching, litter sieving and sweep netting.
