Ectopsocus petersi Smithers, 1978

Summary: found on very wide range of trees, shrubs and other microhabitats. More frequently found on tree trunks than Ectopsocus briggsi.

Associations:

• Deciduous branches: apple, alder, ash, aspen, beech, birch, bird cherry, blackthorn, elder, elm, hawthorn, hazel, oak, pear, rowan, sallow, sycamore, sea buckthorn and willow.
• Deciduous trunks: ash, beech, elm, horse chestnut, lime and oak.
• Conifer/evergreen branches: cherry laurel, Chinese juniper, cypress family, gorse, Elaeagnus x ebbingei, Hebe, holly, ivy, juniper, larch, laurel, pines, privet, Rhododendron, sitka spruce and yew.
• Other microhabitats: bracken, bracket fungus, heather, leaf litter, lyme grass, mayweed, old bird nests, straw bales, under Acer bark and water trap.

Sampling techniques: beating branches, brushing tree trunks, malaise trap, pitfall trap, Rothamsted light trap and sweep netting.
